Delhi has been in the forefront in implementing several innovative projects involving the use of geospatial technology. After the successful completion of the pilot project for 3D mapping of Chandni Chowk area, the government of Delhi initiated the Delhi State Spatial Data Infrastructure (DSSDI). As part of this, Delhi aims to prepare 3D databases for the entire NCT region of Delhi well before the Common Wealth Games -2010.

The project, with its two components - Land Information System (LIS) of NCT of Delhi and Urban Spatial Information System (USIS), will facilitate up-to-date cadastral information and spatial data requirements of urban planning. The award recognises the active usage of the technology by the State for the larger benefit of the public.
