  Lifetime Achievement Award for Surveying was conferred on Lt.Gen. G.C. Agarwal, Former Surveyor General of India. Brig. B. Nagarajan, Director, Geodetic & Research Branch, Survey of India, receiving the award on his behalf.

Lt.Gen.G.C.Agarwal is well known for his outstanding contribution to the fields of surveying, cartography and remote sensing, photogrammetry and educational technology. His services as the Surveyor General of India from 1981-1988 are extremely commendable. As Surveyor General, he has done yeomen service to the nation in upgrading Survey of India technologically and in unveiling the digital mapping era in the country.

He has held several distinguished positions in his life time which include vice-chancellor of MD University, Rohtak, Vice-president of International Cartographic Association and as president of Institute of Surveyors..
